Our joints were meant to move through a full range of motion on a regular basis, but the postures and activities of today’s world hardly ever require “end-range movement” in our joints. When you do activities that your joints, muscles, and discs do not have the range of motion or strength to do; those tissues can eventually wear down and lead to pain. Golf, tennis, and weightlifting are just a few examples of activities that require a variety of range of motion, but you also must remain strong during the end range of the movement.
The good news is that you do not need to quit doing these activities that you love to do, you just have to prepare your joints, muscles, and discs for these activities by giving them the range of motion and strength required to do the task. During this class, you will perform light exercises and movements that will help you increase your range of motion and then develop strength and control in that new range of motion. This class prepares your tissues for tasks that require more range of motion and strength in those extreme ranges of motion.
By moving all your joints through their full range of motion on a regular basis; you help increase circulation and bring oxygen and nutrients to your joints, setting you up for good long-term joint health. You also maintain and eventually increase your range of motion and prevent against injury by preparing your tissues for extreme ranges of motion.
This mobility class is a fun atmosphere where you will walk away feeling loose after this light workout! All ages and levels of fitness are encouraged to come. It does not matter if you are looking for relief from your arthritis, want to improve your game on the field/court, or just want to feel better – this is the place for you!
